About Us
Seeking Justice provides insight, advocacy, and investigative support for individuals whose lives have been altered by wrongful convictions. Our mission also includes ensuring that the voices of victims of assault are not diminished by false claims of innocence.
Founded by veteran journalist and private investigator Bill Proctor, who has helped free 12 wrongfully convicted individuals, Seeking Justice was born from his desire to expand the fight beyond individual cases into a dedicated advocacy group. In partnership with Shelby Shoup and Erica Lynn Smith, the organization took shape, combining Bill’s decades of investigative expertise with Shelby’s leadership in high-impact media campaigns.
Since its founding, our work has led to the freedom of three additional individuals and amplified public awareness around wrongful convictions. In 2025, we relaunched The Swift Justice Initiative, allowing our supporters to directly contribute through donations and help us continue the fight for truth, accountability, and justice.
